Lucky 8 Ranch is a wedding venue unlike any you’ve ever seen - and as soon as you see it for yourself, you’ll understand why it was awarded The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2023 honor. Set amongst the Rocky Mountains in Steamboat Springs over 7,000 feet above sea level, the Ranch is home to over 400 American bison that happily roam the 3,000-acre property.
The land is full of rolling hills and mountains as far as the eye can see, with skies stretching for miles. The hills also have sage, wildflowers, and aspen trees. Large grassy areas are perfect for gathering for ceremonies or receptions in the fresh mountain air. With so much space, there is plenty of room to dine, dance, and celebrate.
The team behind Lucky 8 Ranch dedicates itself to reclaiming the coal-mined land. Their agriculture crew has been working hard to reinstate the bison population and agritourism attractions like ATV tours and Snowmobile tours to help everyone fall in love with the beauty of the Colorado wilderness. Moreover, the Ranch celebrates wildlife and nature, both of which are beautiful backdrops for unforgettable weddings.
Details of the Grounds
Lucky 8 Ranch’s mountain venue is captivating, with a secluded and expansive atmosphere. You can exchange vows at a beautiful spot elevated over Trout Creek, with a stunning view of Hahn’s Peak and Sleeping Giant. Say “I do” beneath a simplistic arch that looks out over the scenic landscape. Take your first steps as a married couple walking into the Colorado wilderness.
For your reception, you can set up an elegant celebration beneath an enormous white tent with high vaulted ceilings, clear windows that look out onto the sprawling Colorado night sky, and plenty of space for a giant dance floor that can fit up to 200 of your guests (up to 400 with prior permission.) You’ll be able to bring your own unique aesthetic to the tent décor to design the wedding of your dreams.
While you can host your ceremony and reception at Lucky 8 Ranch Wedding, you’ll need to prepare for the day offsite, as there is no bridal suite. Also, something to note is that while there are trailer bathrooms, there aren’t indoor facilities for you or your guests throughout the event.
Photography Opportunities
The rolling hills and distant mountains are by far the most photogenic part of a Lucky 8 Ranch wedding. We’ll wander through the meadows to find the perfect place for wedding party photos and intimate couple portraits amongst the wildflowers.
The sprawling blue sky is also a spectacularly wild backdrop for jaw-dropping pictures. We’ll also find spaces amidst the nearby aspen trees for beautiful shots. Maybe we’ll even spot a few bison as we explore and find a way to work them into your pictures!
Wedding Details
Lucky 8 Ranch only hosts one event per week, and only 15 events per year, meaning that if you are one of the lucky couples to host your wedding with them, you’ll have plenty of access to your space the entire week of your wedding. Your vendors will also have access the day before, the day of, and the day after the event!)
They offer several wedding packages, including the Pure Bliss and All Yours packages. The Pure Bliss gives you more freedom to design your event and choose all of your own vendors while using the ranch as the perfect canvas to curate your perfect wedding day.
The Pure Bliss is more of an all-inclusive package, where the Lucky 8 team will get to know you and your design preferences and take care of all the tedious work for you!
