    TIPS FROM REAL COUPLES:

    • Even if you’re eloping, still have a rehearsal!

    • If you’re choosing a spot by the lake, it’s likely to be loud (windy, crashing waves) so keep this in mind for the ceremony + guests being able to hear.

    • Bring a few clear umbrellas (I have some!) it can get a little misty.

    • Depending on the season, bring a few blankets to warm up with in between photos.

    • During certain times of the day, Presque Isle is walking hours only, you cannot drive so look this up prior.

    • SHOES! Its super rocky, slick and wet! (So this means NO heels, 100%)

    • Trust your photographer and be flexible with having a backup location

    • Book a picnic spot ASAP since they book early

    Plan All The Details

Careful planning is essential for a successful and enjoyable elopement, even though it may seem spontaneous. Important factors to keep in mind include the timing, weather, attire, ceremony details, witnesses, and arrangements for post-ceremony celebrations.

    Gather All Important Documents

It is crucial to thoroughly research the specific requirements and regulations for obtaining a marriage license in Marquette and gather all necessary documents before embarking on your official elopement.

    Tell Friends + Family

While eloping may seem like a personal and intimate moment, it is crucial to inform your loved ones to prevent any potential misunderstandings or hurt feelings. A thoughtful gesture would be to send a note or make an announcement to involve them in the celebration. Another suggestion is to ask loved ones to write letters to be read on the elopement day, allowing them to be a part of the special day while still keeping the focus on the couple. You may also do a live stream to include them as long as service allows and you could also think about inviting your closest of all closest friends and family (Think around 15 people TOPS!)
